If you're reading this, chances are you found our capsule in the J4 cave in central PA. It is a great cave to go exploring, and if you are daring enough to venture down the second rope you will find our capsule. I built it in April 2013, and place it there on April 20th, 2013. I made this blog site if anyone wanted to share experiences or find other caves to explore. "The book of the chosen ones" is a time capsule and an experiment to see how many people reach the depths of the J4 cave. I hope when I return to it many years from now, it will be full of names and interesting quotes.

Went there today and looked all over. couldn't find it. Where is it
ReplyDeleteIt is down the second rope. If you got to the area where there is a hole in the wall ~20 feet up that says "LOOK" with an arrow to it, you were close. It's through another corridor and then down a hole in the floor (which we called the second rope). I'll add a picture of the map with the capsule's location.

ReplyDeleteThe capsule is damaged. The top is smashed. I believe someone threw a rock down from above as they dare not attempt to enter the hell hole. The book was damp however still readable.

ReplyDeleteHas the cave unofficially re-opened? Last I heard the mining company was prosecuting. Friends and I went there between ‘99-‘01–about 10 times. First trip was summer of ‘99 with Nittany Grotto. It’s a great cave!
ReplyDeleteMy buddies and I found a book and signed it on Monday 10/26/2020. That cave is absolutely beautiful! I want to explore more of it but I got a warning from the fuzz for trespassing. He said next time I get caught, its a $500 fine for me and all who are with me. Its an hour and a half drive for me to go to the J4. So I'm not familiar with the area. Are you aware of any places I could park without raising suspicion? Also, are you aware of any other caves that are comparable to the J4?

ReplyDeleteWe placed a pvc tube with a sign in book waaaaaaay in the back of the cave. It has a triforce symbol on the end of the pipe. This was in 2018 I think.

ReplyDeleteAbove, i posted a video from the room where the time capsule is. It is destroyed and there is a ladder leading down to the room where its in. Also found a Sony lens cover fossilized in a rock lol
